Who else is joining the fun?

A total of 14 boats showed up for the WVYC Jack & Jill Race.
Generally light inflow winds prevailed, with a particularly soft spot at the Bell Buoy exacerbated by strong flood current. It was too much for the three slowest-rated boats in the fleet, which never made it around.
Krikkit (together with About Time) took a somewhat conservative route, sailing a bit of extra distance to stay high of the buoy. Nunnehi tried for the rhumb line, but then as the wind eased and the current built they got swept the wrong side of the buoy and had to beat slowly back up-current to make the rounding. Sam-I-Am found the perfect middle ground and managed to round with no wasted distance and still ahead of a couple of the fast boats.
From the Bell Buoy it was a lazy (and very close) spinnaker run to QB, propelled in equal measure by current and wind, and then a surprisingly pleasant beat up to Pt. Atkinson in about 7 knots of breeze, with everyone taking advantage of the back-eddy against the West Van shoreline.
The final run from Point Atkinson to the finish was again in very light air. Krikkit made a hail-mary attempt to sneak past Sam-I-Am by tacking inside of them at Pt. Atkinson, but never got the hoped-for shore lift, and instead had to tack back out and struggle across the line as the last of the finishers. Nunnehi made a valiant attempt to complete the course after escaping the clutches of the Bell Buoy, but ended up becalmed near Pt. Atkinson when the wind shut off for the day.
The finishing order was as follows:
Idiopathic
Lekker
About Time
Havoc
Serendipity
Incisor
Audrey B
Balderdash
Sam I Am
Krikkit
Nunnehi - DNF
Mariah 1 - RET
Shearwater - RET
Catch 22 - RET

Mariah sent along the track from their rounding attempt, aka “stuck in the swamp of sadness”
