New insurance clause for sail racing

Not only was my insurance up nearly 20 percent this year compared to last year, but now there’s a new clause stating that all claims arising from sail racing activities will have a minimum $1,000 deductible (versus $350 for non-racing claims, which is actually down from $400 from last year).

Anyone else get hit with big increases this year, or similar sail-racing clauses?

I just changed insurance brokers. I was initially very happy with my broker but I kept getting huge increases year over year. It went up 50% then 40% then this year they proposed 35% increase. I went to a broker two blocks from my house and got a rate the same as I was paying the at the other broker last year.

Kman, as per the racing clause, I will look at the find print in my policy but I did not have this last year.

I do not have that race clause in my insurance.

Just got the 2020 insurance agreement wording for Thursday’s Child, which is insured through Dolphin (with Cowan as the underwriter), and they have not added such a clause. The rates went up, but the wording is almost identical to last year (and the one before).
